If you would like to make a gift of stock, let us know so the gift will transfer correctly without delay and so we can promptly acknowledge your gift! You can contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the office at 517.278.4517.
What's the difference between a Community Foundation and a Commercial Gift Fund?
The Community Foundation is different from a commercial gift fund, like Fidelity, in that we offer more charitable products at the same, or less, service charge than commercial gift funds. We also offer the local, professional expertise of our staff to help connect you to the community causes you care about.
Can I make a monthly gift via direct deposit?
Absolutely! Contact us by emailing email@example.com, or calling us at 517.278.4517 and we can help you with the set up!
Who controls the use of contributions?
The Branch County Community Foundation (BCCF) has exclusive legal control over the contributed assets. All gifts will be invested, and investment returns distributed, in accordance with the BCCF’s investment and spending policies. Although donors may designate how they'd like their gifts allocated, BCCF has explicit authority to redirect the returns of any fund to another beneficiary if the beneficiary organization ceases to exist or if distributions for the purpose of the fund become otherwise unnecessary, impossible, or inconsistent with the needs of the community.
How does BCCF use Donors' Names?
Unless anonymity has been requested, the Community Foundation recognizes every donor—no matter what size their gift—in our newsletter, annual report, and other publications. However, we do not use or furnish to anyone, except as required by law, any confidential information relating to donors. Periodic fund and gift reports to organizations which have funds with us will show donors’ names and gift amounts to those funds. Donors' names are listed in our “Donor’s Circle” in our annual report and other publications which may appear on our website. Donor’s Circle participants’ names are listed under a range of giving levels and/or under years of continuous giving. Donors may request to have their names omitted from any or all publications and be anonymous when we release fund or gift statements to fund beneficiaries.
Are contributions to BCCF eligible for a income tax deduction?
The Branch County Community Foundation qualifies as a public charity under section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) of the Internal Revenue Service Code, is exempt from taxation under section 501(c)(3) of the Code. Therefore, in most cases, your contribution qualifies for a Federal Income Tax Deduction. Always consult your tax advisor regarding the tax deductibility of this gift with regard to your particular circumstances. Unless otherwise stated above, no material goods or services have been provided for the contribution.
