Grants
Please contact us for the deadline for other funds. Before submitting an application, applicants are strongly encouraged to meet with our staff. The purpose of this meeting is to help staff understand the applicant's proposal and determine whether it qualifies for a BCCF grant. The consultation also is meant to assist the grantee in understanding the Community Foundation's grantmaking process and application requirements. Pre-consultation appointments should be made as early as possible before the grant application is due - but no later than 5 days before the due date. Grants to Individuals The Community Foundation makes grants to individuals in the form of scholarships that qualify as a charitable activity and provided income to scholarship recipients that is non-taxable. To meet those objectives, scholarships (grants to individuals) may be awarded to those who are candidates for a degree at an eligible educational institution and agree to use the scholarship or fellowship to pay qualified education expenses. Qualified education expenses include tuition and fees; and course-related expenses such as books, supplies, and equipment. Room and board, travel, research, clerical help, and non-required equipment are not qualified education expenses. You may complete our online form to make a pre-application inquiry. Applicants should bring a copy of the organization's current IRS determination letter (indicating 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status) and the organization's license to solicit to the pre-application meeting. An expression of interest or the provision of an application should not be considered a guarantee of funding. All grant requests go through a complete review process before any funding decision is made. Questions? Email grants@brcofoundation.org or call 517.278.4517. |
