The Community Foundation is privileged to administer scholarship funds on behalf of the communities we serve.
The Community Foundation accepts Scholarship Funds that are able to accomplish three goals:
- To qualify as a charitable activity so as not to jeopardize the tax-exempt status of the Community Foundation;
- To provide donors to scholarship funds with an income tax deduction; and
- To provided income to scholarship recipients that is non-taxable.
- NEW July 2008! - Lyndsay Sharp Bingaman Nursing Scholarship Criteria
The family of Lyndsay Sharp Bingaman and the Branch County Community Foundation are pleased to announce the first awarding of the Lyndsay Sharp Bingaman Nursing Scholarship.
This fall there will be two awards given to qualified students who are accepted to attend an accredited education in nursing. This scholarship will be renewable up to three times.
Applicants must have graduated from a St. Joseph county school and provide documentation of acceptance or attendance in a nursing program accredited by either the CCNE or NLNAC. Additionally, applications will be reviewed based on documented school and community activities, a letter of recommendation, and a personal letter of intent in the field of nursing, with preference given to applicants graduating from Mendon or Colon High Schools, those accepted into a registered nurse program, and those attending nursing school full time. Financial need will also be considered.
The deadline for this fall is August 15, 2008. Scholarship recipients will be notified and payment will be made when the fall semester begins.
