The Community Foundation Scholarship Program

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON FINANCIAL PORTION
It has come to our attention that a correction needs to be made to our 2012 Scholarship Application. On page 4 of the application, under Financial Information Part 2, the applicant is asked to list the total cost of their program as well as any sources of income (lines B, C, D, E, and F). The application then tells you to add together lines B-F and that becomes your total income. The application then asks you to subtract line F from line A. It should read subtract Total Income from Line A.

Trouble saving the filled-in document? We recommend using Foxit Reader (instead of Adobe Reader). You can find this program for download by following this link: http://download.cnet.com/Foxit-Reader/3000-10743_4-10313206.html. When you are ready to save your document, click “Save” (not Save As), and it will give you a default message, telling you it is in read-only and to save by a different file name. After clicking “ok”, it will allow you to save the document as you wish.

NEW FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION: I can't complete my FAFSA because I don't have my tax return completed; how can I apply for a scholarship?

TIP: You can submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using best estimates. After you submit your tax return, correct any income or tax information that is different from what you initially submitted on your FAFSA.

The Community Foundation is privileged to administer scholarship funds on behalf of the communities we serve.

The Community Foundation makes grants to individuals in the form of scholarships that qualify as a charitable activity and provide income to scholarship recipients that is non-taxable. To meet those objectives, scholarships are awarded to qualified individuals who are candidates for a degree at an eligible educational institution and agree to use the scholarship or fellowship to pay qualified education expenses. Qualified education expenses include tuition and fees; and course-related expenses such as books, supplies, and equipment. Room and board, travel, research, clerical help, and non-required equipment are not qualified education expenses.
