Janet is an 8th grader at Legg Middle School in Coldwater, Michigan. She is a straight-A student who is in advanced Algebra and English, and frequents the "Principal's List," at LMS. Janet loves academics and prides herself in never having had a missing assignment.
Music has always been a huge part of Janet's life. She has played the piano since the age of 7, has been in the Branch County Community Youth Choir, and has performed in 10 musical theatre productions so far. Janet has been in band since the 5th grade, and is currently playing flute. When she's not playing or performing, she's probably listening to music. Janet is also the first singles player on the LMS Tennis Team, a member of the LMS Student Council, and a member of the Community Foundation's Youth Advisory Council (YAC). She was a participant in the Michigan Youth and Government program as well. Janet loves animals and taking care of them, and she has three animals: two rambunctious cats and a goofy dog. She would like many more animals, a prospect that her family sadly opposes. Janet loves reading and writing, and has a particular fond spot for the Harry Potter series. Janet is extremely grateful to receive this scholarship and is excited to attend the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp this summer. |
