What We're Up To

Effective Grantmaking

At our February 2018 meeting, the YAC'ers were busy doing their initial review of the 14 grants received this competitive grant round. They broke out into small groups, reviewed the grants based on their 2018 Needs Assessment and came back together and compiled their data and questions for the potential grantees who will be asked to attend an interview during their next YAC meeting in March.

Collaborative Learning Events

In January 2018, the YAC’ers and students of the Automotive Technologies Program at the Branch Area Careers Center had a unique experience. The YAC’ers gained knowledge about car maintenance through an information session taught entirely by the students of the Automotive Technologies Program. The YAC students got real life experience in changing car tires, oil changes and general knowledge necessary for all drivers about general car maintenance and repair.

Helping Our Community

At our December 2017 meeting, YAC members purchased and delivered gifts to families at the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence Shelter-house.

Here are YAC Members (L to R) -- Meridith Grife, Jayln Volkmer, Zach Rigot, Ben Fagen, Graham Eley, Kyle Germann, Luke Rufenacht, and Grey Skudlarick

Attending Regional Training Events

At our November 2017 meeting, YAC members traveled to the Kool Family Center to take part in the YAC Regional Training Event.

Granting funding and helping build a community playground

The YAC’ers gathered on a Saturday morning in October 2017  at the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence Play Ground Build. The YAC awarded an $8,000 grant towards the project early this year and were happy to volunteer their time in the build.
