Completing the Circle: Introducing the Union City Educator Curiosity Fund

The Branch County Community Foundation is excited to introduce a new fund that creates even more opportunities for local educators to inspire the next generation of learners: the Union City Educator Curiosity Fund.
With the addition of this unique mini-grant fund, every school district in Branch County now has a grant opportunity dedicated to supporting local educators and the innovative ways they help students learn. We are proud to see this circle completed of all Branch County School Districts having a mini grant fund with the Community Foundation, and look forward to the impact these funds will make in classrooms across our community.
The Union City Educator Curiosity Fund is an endowed fund established by James Green with a special purpose: to provide K–12 educators in the Union City School District with opportunities to take student learning beyond the traditional classroom.
The fund supports educators in the Union City School District who want to give students opportunities to explore, experience, question, discover, and learn in new and meaningful ways. Whether through hands-on activities, unique experiences, or opportunities to explore subjects from a different perspective, these mini-grants are designed to spark curiosity and create lasting learning experiences for students.
The inspiration behind the fund is just as meaningful as its purpose. During his own time at Union City Schools, James Green had two educators who encouraged students to continue learning beyond the classroom. Those lessons stayed with him long after his school years ended, demonstrating the lasting influence an educator can have on a student's life.
Through this endowment, Green is helping ensure that future generations of Union City students have access to the same kind of inspiring experiences that shaped his own educational journey. The addition of the Union City Educator Curiosity Fund represents more than a new grant opportunity. It is another example of how local generosity can create meaningful opportunities for students and strengthen the future of Branch County.
Union City K–12 educators interested in bringing new learning opportunities to their students can apply for mini-grants beginning April 1, alongside the Foundation's other mini-grant opportunities for Branch County schools.
We are honored to serve as stewards of funds established by generous community members who want to make a lasting difference. Through endowed funds like this one, their generosity can continue supporting students, educators, and our communities for generations to come. We cannot wait to see the ideas educators bring forward and the discoveries, experiences, and moments of curiosity that will follow. Because sometimes, the lessons that stay with us the longest begin when we step outside the classroom.
