Every spring, the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) of the Branch County Community Foundation comes together for a service project. This year, the YAC students stocked up local junior and senior high schools with hygiene kits to support students in need of personal hygiene items. Through this project, students have access to free items such as deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products, and more. The hygiene kits give students an opportunity to feel their best and help to create a positive environment, focusing on academics.

YAC is a group of philanthropic leaders in Branch County and Colon dedicate their time to making a positive impact on the community. At their monthly meeting, the students make a list of items that are necessities to teens' hygiene needs. Once all of the items are purchased, YACers spend a Sunday afternoon in April packaging the items up and delivering to their local middle and high schools throughout the month.

This particular project has grown deep in the hearts of YAC students, as they have chosen to provide hygiene kits as their spring project for many years, instilling confidence into their peers by providing items they may not have at home.

Bronson senior, Kailynne Scare loved giving back to students through this project,

"What I enjoyed most was being able to directly support students in schools. Knowing that something so simple could make their day a little easier. It was a great reminder that even small efforts can have a real impact."

Hygiene kits were provided for the Branch Area Careers Center, Bronson Jr/Sr High School, Coldwater High School, Colon Jr/Sr High School, Legg Middle School, Quincy Middle School and High School, and Union City Middle School.
